Hotspot and Chromebook Lending
The Trimble County Public Library has established a Wi-Fi hotspot and device lending program to provide patrons in our community with high-speed internet access and technology for educational and job seeking purposes. Hotspots and devices are not intended for entertainment purposes such as streaming or gaming services. To qualify to borrow a device, patrons must demonstrate the following:
Adults checking out a hotspot or a device must provide evidence that the device(s) will be used for at least one of the following educational or job related reasons.
The Trimble County Public Library has established a Wi-Fi hotspot and device lending program to provide patrons in our community with high-speed internet access and technology for educational and job seeking purposes. Hotspots and devices are not intended for entertainment purposes such as streaming or gaming services. To qualify to borrow a device, patrons must demonstrate the following:
- Show that they are an adult, 18 years of age or older, with a valid photo ID.
- Show evidence that they are a resident of Trimble County by supplying a current utility bill or other mail with a current address.
- Have a library card with an account in good standing, with no outstanding fines or lost material. Patrons who do not have a library account can apply for a card at the circulation desk.
- Complete a Hotspot/Device Borrowing Agreement Form.
Adults checking out a hotspot or a device must provide evidence that the device(s) will be used for at least one of the following educational or job related reasons.
- Enrollment in online GED courses or attending GED courses at Trimble County Skills U or JCTC Adult Education. Borrowers can provide a letter/email from a GED coordinating organization or other evidence verifying participation.
- Enrollment and/or participation in online or in-person college courses. Borrowers can provide evidence such as registration for classes, a class schedule, a letter/email from a professor, counselor, or college administrator, etc.
- Actively working with a Kentuckiana Works representative to seek employment or get help with job related skills. Borrowers can provide evidence of this by having a Kentuckiana Works representative contact the library through a phone call, letter, or email.
- Borrowers are a guardian/parent of a student enrolled in a GED program or Trimble County Public Schools, the student has been approved by the school district for Non-Traditional Instruction at home, or the student is home schooled.
- Enrollment in a financial management or internet safety program sponsored by a community organization. Evidence of enrollment and attendance must be provided.
Checkout Periods
- Hotspots and Chrome books can be checked out for a month at a time and can be renewed as long as the customer can verify that they are still associated with an eligible program.
Checkout Limits
- Hotspots and Chrome books are limited to one per family or household.
