A Little History
Trimble County Public Library began with a small bookmobile in 1960. The library served the community through the work of volunteers and a small budget.
Through the approval of Fiscal Court on June 21, 1971, the library was established as a Special Government Entity taxing district. Increased funding allowed for the purchase of a small building next to court house square in 1975. The library prospered and served the community well in our little library.
It became clear after many years that the library needed a larger space to serve the community. After years of planning, construction began on a new building in 2010 on the property known for the Equity Barn in Bedford. Beams from the barn were used to construct a beautiful entry way and welcome desk area. A year later, in September of 2011, the library was complete. The library continues to strive to provide excellent service and meet the ever changing needs of our community.

Inter-Library Loan
Trimble County Public Library proudly participates in a material loaning/borrowing program that collaborates with thousands of other libraries across the country called Inter-Library Loan (ILL). Patrons may use ILL to request up to 3 items at a time. The loan period for all borrowed ILL materials is set by the lending library. Renewals are subject to the lending library's policy and must be requested before the initial due date.
Patrons will be notified when their ILL item is available to be picked up from the front desk; items must be picked up within one week of receiving this notice. All shipping costs incurred from out of state ILL items will be charged to patrons who order an ILL but fail to pick it up within one week of being notified.
The library offers several meeting spaces for individuals and organizations to reserve during library hours. Individuals and organizations are encouraged to reserve rooms ahead of time to ensure availability, but walk-ins are also acceptable if space is available. To schedule ahead of time, please call us or click the Reserve a Room button. A team member will contact you confirming details of the reservation. Please give 3-5 business days to be contacted. Please read the Meeting Space and Room Reservation Policy before reserving a room.

The Library has an outreach vehicle that is used to deliver materials to people's homes, schools and businesses. Deliveries will take place on Wednesdays. Anyone can sign up for delivery services, you do not have to be home-bound. This is a great service for busy families. The library delivers any material that circulates (except laptops & hotspots). You may request specific titles, or our staff will be happy to select materials for you based on your interests. Library materials will be delivered to your front door. For more information or to make a request, call us at 502-255-7362 during business hours or click here to fill out an online form.

Trimble County Public Library publicly announces vacancies on the Board through this website, and various social media. Community members can access the application in the following ways:
- Asking at the Library's front desk.
- Viewing the Board of Trustees Job Description
- Viewing the Online Board of Trustee Application
Applications are reviewed by the current Board members during regularly scheduled Board Meetings. Two names will be chosen to submit to the State Librarian three to four months before the vacancy occurs (per KRS 65.008). After the appointment is made, the county judge executive or mayor’s office sends a copy of the letter of appointment or the minutes of the fiscal court or council meeting to KDLA for their records.
