How do I apply for a library card during the pandemic?
Customers can apply for library cards in two ways
1. Call the library and request one. 502-255-7362.
2. Go to our online card catalog and apply for a card online.
Cards will either be mailed or we will call you when it is ready to be picked up.
What do I need to get a library card?
In order to receive a card, proof of residence must be established by providing one of the following: A Valid Driver’s License or state issued ID; current property tax receipt; mortgage statement; utility bill or current mail (postmarked within 30 days).
Does it cost to get a card?
No fee is required for residents of Trimble, Henry, Oldham, and Carroll Counties in Kentucky and Jefferson County, Indiana.
What if I lose my card?
Lost library cards may be replaced for a $1.00 fee. Report a lost or stolen card immediately to avoid misuse of your card.
Can my child get their own card?
A parent or guardian must sign a statement of responsibility for children under the age of eighteen (18) unless the child is legally emancipated and has proof of emancipation. Signing the library registration means the customer agrees to assume responsibility for all who make use of the card, pay all fines and/or other charges incurred, notify the library of any change of address and inform the library if the card has been lost or stolen. Children’s accounts will be linked to Responsible Parties in the Library’s automated check-out system.
Can I use another person's library card?
Exceptions:
Privileges may be granted to individuals to use another person’s library card in extenuating circumstances such as extended illness or transportation issues. Requests to use another person’s library card may be made in writing to the Director explaining the circumstances. The written requests should include specific names of individuals allowed to use the card. The person who has been issued the card will be responsible for any lost or damaged materials or late fees resulting in allowing other parties to use their card. Requests to end authorization of an individual from using a card should also be made in writing.

- Adults are prohibited from using another person’s card to check out library materials unless the person is physically present and gives verbal permission for the person to check out items using their card. Phone calls aren’t allowed to get permission to check out on another person’s account.
- Children are not allowed to use a parent or guardian’s card to check out items unless the adult is present and gives verbal permission for the child to use the card.
- Parents/Guardians are allowed to use a child’s card as long as their personal card is or below the $5.00 fine limit. Adults who have children that have fines over $5.00 may be blocked or limited from checking out on their own account.
